What to pull from LinkedIn
Your LinkedIn headline, About section, experience bullets and skills are raw material — not a finished resume. Copy the roles, dates and accomplishments you are willing to stand behind. Drop the emoji, “open to work” banners and engagement fluff.
Watch for gaps and title inflation that look fine in a feed but fail under recruiter scrutiny. The resume should be the stricter document.
Reformat for ATS
- One column, standard headings (Experience, Education, Skills).
- No tables, text boxes, icons or multi-column skill graphs that break parsers.
- Consistent dates and location lines; spell out certifications the way employers search them.
- Export or build a PDF/TXT that selects as real text — not a screenshot of your profile.
Tailor beyond the profile
A LinkedIn-derived CV is still generic. For each application, re-rank bullets and keywords against that job description. MaxCV takes your CV plus the posting and returns a tailored, ATS-ready PDF with a before/after match score and interview prep — so “LinkedIn to resume” becomes “LinkedIn to a resume that fits this job.”
